Absolutely true diary of a part time indian
After completing the book i thought it was a well put together piece. It had humor, diversity, challenges, and hope that made me want to read more. He provided pictures to help get the point across which was a great addition. I found it interesting to read more upon when he left the reservation and begin his own chapter in life by going to the white school "Rearden". He was faced with being the only indian besides the mascot to go to the school and he made his way to the top by lying, fighting, and having faith that things would get better. Although he lost multiple loved ones in horrible ways, he kept moving forward when he wanted to hide in a room and go away forever. I would be interested in reading a sequel to see what his life turned out to be and how it got there.

Then check out Sherman Alexie's website and read what he is up to these days! Since True Diary is mainly based on Alexie's early life, he is the sequel, if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteI actually really enjoyed the novel also. I don't remember the last time I read a book with pictures let alone for a class! I loved how personal and raw the book. It was really easy to relate on such a personal level. Not so much the experience, but more of the emotions of the characters.
